Zen Garden (With Bad Rake)

The rake is wider than the tray.

A standard desktop zen garden — approximately eight by twelve inches of white sand in a shallow wooden tray — supplied with a rake whose tines span exactly two inches wider than the tray's interior. The sand cannot be raked from edge to edge. This is the design.

Going forward, the sand can still be raked in the center. Partial raking is available. The edges will remain unraked. This is an accurate simulation of most desk-based tasks.

Per my last email about the mindfulness initiative: this is the product that was approved. The procurement committee reviewed several alternatives and selected this one after a brief and somewhat tense discussion.
